Rocky has been on the Eastern Pennsylvania music scene since the early 70's. At the age of 15, Rocky was thrust into performing in his Uncle's country western band when their long time lead guitarist left the band to return to his home in Alabama. During high school and his early years, Rocky had made a name for himself and performed with a number of country bands which enjoyed a run of consistent gigs every weekend and were regulars at festivals and county fairs including a gig to open for Mel Tillis. While attending college, Rocky met up with musicians having a more current musical direction and formed a band playing 70's rock. As the 80's started, Rocky joined a band called Peyote which exposed him to his first taste of Southern Rock. They played venues in South Central PA and Maryland through the 80's. After a 10 year break in the 90's, Rocky started playing on the worship team at his church where he helped form a band performing all original Christian based rock. Eventually the deep rooted Country music and sound of double leads and dueling guitar solos in Southern Rock songs lead him to join Charlie, Bill and Jeff in Steelhorse. Rocky is using Ibanez guitars with a Line 6 amp, but he's got his eye on a vintage Les Paul and a Marshall amp. |
